I am back with another illustration for my collection. This one is called “Times are changing”. I wanted to flip the script on an everyday city scene. Usually, we sit on a bench and feed the pigeons in the park, but what if the roles were completely reversed?
Here is what hides in the details: a closer look at the drawing.
- the ultimate role reversal: a giant pigeon is sitting calmly on a park bench, casually tossing snacks – or maybe golden coins – to tiny little humans scrambling on the ground.
- the characters: the bird looks so peaceful and generous, while the tiny people are busy collecting whatever is dropped. it is a funny, absurd commentary on who is really in charge.
- colors and style: a soft pink background sets a calm, almost dreamy mood, which contrasts nicely with the light blue bench and the teal bird. as always, the thick black comic outlines bring the whole joke together.
It is just a fun, silly perspective shift. I hope this illustration makes you look differently at the birds next time you are taking a walk through the park!
